My Story:
When I reached 344 pounds at the age of 17, I knew something needed to be done. I had tried everything. A friend of mine introduced me to the Atkins program. Almost instantly, I was hooked. Atkins is more than a diet. Atkins is a way of life that helped me overcome my childhood obesity. It took a year and a half to lose the weight. At first temptation was hard because I come from an Italian family where pasta and breads are commonly served at almost every family gathering. This was the hardest part about Atkins. Luckily I found low-carb options that allowed me to eat with my family and still enjoy coming home to dinner. The easiest part of the diet was Induction. Induction felt like newfound freedom. I was eating, losing weight and remaining full. I was satisfied, and I actually enjoyed doing it.
So many people have come up to me telling me how great I look now thanks to the Atkins program. My friends and family have always been supportive of me. They were concerned as I rapidly become more overweight, but as I started Atkins and the pounds fell off, they supported me 100 percent. My mother would even take a different list of foods for me when she went to the grocery store, and my friends would provide other foods for me at parties. I am grateful to have such support from my family and friends for my weight-loss journey. I feel as though this is an essential part to any successful diet. Without it, I probably would have felt alone and possibly wouldn’t have made it as far as I did. Atkins gave me the ability to regain control of my life. I feel like I have a new body. A body that I can show without feeling embarrassed or judged. I can now wear clothes that fit my style, not my size. Atkins has also helped change my overall way of looking at nutrition. Not only does Atkins help me keep the weight off, but it helps me to stay focused as to what is in food and how it affects
