1 1/2 lb raw ground beef, 20% fat USDA

0 1/4 cup fresh onion, mature, chopped FNDDS

0 1/4 cup fresh green bell pepper, chopped USDA

15 oz canned tomato sauce USDA

0 1/4 cup canned tomato paste Contadina

1 Tbsp sucralose artificial sweetener, granular Splenda

2 pinch table salt USDA

6 cup fresh romaine lettuce, shredded USDA

6 oz cheddar cheese FNDDS
DIRECTIONS
- In a medium non-stick skillet over medium-high heat, brown ground beef until almost cooked through, about 6 minutes. Add onions and peppers and continue to sauté until meat is cooked through, about 4 minutes more.
- Drain off excess fat from the skillet and add tomato sauce, tomato paste and granular sugar substitute and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Allow to simmer over low heat for 30 minutes.
- Serve immediately over shredded Romaine topped with cheddar. One serving is 1 cup shredded lettuce, a rounded 1/2 cup of cooked meat and vegetables, and 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese.
