My Story:
My doctor told me that at 415 pounds, I was on the verge of becoming diabetic and told me that I would have to go on diabetes medication in the near future. I was already on medication for high blood pressure and high cholesterol and didn’t want any additional medication, so I begged him to give me a chance to lose some weight. He said, “OK, I’ll give you six months to lose 30 pounds.” I said I would do it in three months. I started Atkins the next day, and by my next appointment three months later, my blood sugar was well within normal range again. It took me 16 months to lose 160 pounds, and now have more energy than I have had in years. My blood pressure is now normal. My cholesterol is now normal. My blood sugar is now normal. I no longer have leg pain. I can walk longer. I breathe easier. My skin actually looks better and everyone says I look younger. One of the best things is the clothes. I have gone from a 5x (size 34) to my current size of a Misses XL. I no longer have to shop in special plus size stores and catalogs. I am just happier! In my opinion, the Atkins diet saved my life and has improved my outlook for my future. It has been so easy and I don’t consider it a diet. It’s a lifestyle change for me. I used to live to eat; now I eat to live! Food just isn’t the most important thing to me any more but being healthy is!
Favorite Atkins Friendly Food: I have so many, but I guess my favorite would be my cauliflower chicken.
