My Story:
I got my wake up call in 2007 when I lost a close friend to a heart attack. I knew it was only a matter of time before my body was going to say I’ve had enough. I had ballooned to over 360 pounds and I couldn’t walk a block without getting out of breath. I started in April of ‘08 with the Atkins lifestyle along with some serious exercise and today I feel so much better. I realize that this is a life long commitment and that it is not a temporary fix. I chose Atkins for two reasons. The number one reason was that everything I’ve read in Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution made sense to me. We as a country are taking in too many simple carbohydrates and that in my opinion is the main reason for the growing number of cases of diabetes and other diseases. I only wish that everyone would read this book. The second reason is the evidence in the way I feel after starting this lifestyle. My energy level has shot through the roof and I don’t have nearly as many aches and pains.
My Goals:
I have lost just over 100 pounds since April 2008. My weight loss goal is to get to 200 pounds and maintain it. I stayed in the induction phase for two months before moving on to OWL. I also do a lot of cardio and weight training. I’m not done yet! I’m in it for a lifetime.
How Atkins Helped Get Me There: Atkins has helped me by giving me an understanding about the way the human body processes food.
